Microsoft 365 calendar integration

Live free/busy availability and automatic interview event management on Microsoft 365 and Outlook calendars, with per-interviewer OAuth and scoped access.

Updated July 17, 2026

What the integration does

The Microsoft 365 integration connects Cadence to Outlook and Microsoft 365 calendars through the Microsoft Graph API. It does the same two jobs as every Cadence calendar connection: read true free/busy availability at the moment a candidate books, and manage the interview events themselves, creating panel events on booking, rebuilding them on a reschedule, and removing them on a cancellation.

How connection works

Each interviewer connects their own Microsoft work account through the standard Microsoft sign-in and consent flow. Access is per-person and scoped to availability and event management; there is no tenant-wide grant to review and no shared mailbox to maintain. Tokens are encrypted at rest, and a connection can be revoked by the interviewer or a workspace admin at any time.

Built for the way Microsoft estates behave

Conditional-access policies, password rotations, and admin-revoked grants are normal life in a Microsoft tenant, so Cadence treats a failing connection as an expected event: the refresh failure is detected, the connection is flagged, and the interviewer is asked to reconnect before the gap reaches a candidate's booking page. Recruiters see connection health in the app rather than discovering it through a half-empty slot list.

Works alongside Google Calendar

Mixed panels are first-class: an interviewer on Microsoft 365 and another on Google Calendar intersect availability exactly as a single-provider panel would. The scheduling engine behind it, atomic slot reservation, panel coordination, and working-hours rules, is described in interview scheduling and calendar coordination, or see all integrations.
