Google Calendar integration

Live free/busy availability and automatic interview event management on Google Calendar, with per-interviewer OAuth and revocable, scoped access.

What the integration does

The Google Calendar integration gives Cadence two abilities: reading true availability and managing interview events. When a candidate opens their booking link, Cadence checks each required interviewer's free/busy on Google Calendar at that moment, so the candidate only ever sees times the panel can actually make. When the candidate books, panel events appear on every interviewer's calendar automatically; when they reschedule or cancel, the events are rebuilt or removed cleanly.

How connection works

Each interviewer connects their own Google account through the standard Google OAuth consent flow, from their Cadence settings. There is no shared service account and no admin-wide grant: access is per-person, uses scoped permissions for availability and event management, and can be revoked by the interviewer or a workspace admin at any time. OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest alongside the rest of the workspace's credentials.

Failure handling you will notice at the right time

Calendar connections fail in boring ways: a password change, a revoked grant, an expired token. Cadence watches for failed refreshes and API errors, marks the affected connection as needing attention, and asks the interviewer to reconnect, before the failure silently turns into a booking page with missing availability. Connection health is visible in the app, so a recruiter never has to guess why a panel member's slots look thin.

Works alongside Microsoft 365

Panels can mix providers freely: one interviewer on Google Calendar, another on Microsoft 365, and the availability intersection still computes correctly.
